As Family Day approaches, it’s got us thinking about our own Folk Fest family, and the thousands of families who have supported the festival by making it part of their summer tradition for decades.
All of these families have their own unique stories, some of which you can read here. Stories of dedicated volunteering passed down through generations; of couples who’ve met and fallen in love amongst our stages; and of collectives of friends-turned-family through a shared passion for the music. They come in many forms, but have one thing in common: each July they come together for one very special weekend of music at the beach.
For 40 years, the Vancouver Folk Music Festival has been a pioneer in artistic diversity, environmental sustainability, accessibility, and much more. It seeks and maintains partnerships with sponsors and organizations that share similar values. It has forged a unique bond between audience and performer to create a special community in our city’s most spectacular setting. And it is as committed as ever to bringing only the best lineup of diverse and wonderful artists for you to discover and celebrate.
We can’t do it alone. The festival relies on the support of many amazing contributors to provide families with the lasting memories they make at the park year after year.
