Father’s Day Artist Spotlight: Karim Saada

Karim Saada grew up listening to his father playing Chaabi music in the casbah in Algiers, now performing this unique and popular Arab-Andalusian traditional music that’s been passed on to him in turn. But like many sons, he has forged his own path, and made the music his own. Now in Québec, he collaborates and performs with musicians from other cultures and genres, and with the touch of a master creates arrangements for Chaabi that include everything from drums and electric bass to banjo, mandol, derbouka and lute. The result is the renewal of Chaabi, infectious rhythms and multi-layered harmonies, and a touch of musical magic.
