Cécile Doo-Kingué teams up with Vancouver’s Dawn Pemberton for a do-not-miss night of no-holds-barred soul blues!

Vancouver’s Dawn Pemberton has deep musical roots that take her powerful voice from gospel and soul to jazz, funk and world music. She has become a staple of the local music scene and can often be found tearin’ it up as a vocalist, teacher, facilitator, choir director and “go to girl” for live performances and studio sessions. A passionate songwriter and performer Dawn crafts her music with a sense of adventure, quirkiness, and serious groove and shapes it into her own unique and dynamic package. Tight, expressive and bold, Dawn will hit you where it counts, funk you up and make you say “Go ‘head!”

Cécile Doo-Kingué blew more than a few folks away at last summer’s festival. “Committed, uncompromising, and passionate,” Doo-Kingué is one of Canada’s finest guitarists. She blends blues, soul and afro-folk with fiery licks, a powerfully resonant voice and evocative melodies to take your breath away. This Montreal based singer, songwriter and guitarist captures her audience’s attention with her unique sound, exceptional stage presence and undeniable talent. This is your first chance to see this amazing artist in concert since she took the festival by storm.

“Doo-Kingue’s soulful, socio-political lyrics were matched by some incredible fretwork. This lady can shred and her energy was infectious.” – François Marchand, Vancouver Sun

Be there when two of this country’s most celebrated women blues artists and their bands join forces to deliver some serious heat and heart on a dreary February Friday night.
