Stringband

Stringband

Stringband (Canada)
Stringband was the little Canadian folk band that could. Over forty years ago they pioneered do-it-yourself- recording and touring and wrote endearing and enduring songs about this country, its people, places and personalities.  From the early seventies until the mid-eighties they were in the forefront of folk music. Since then they have gone on to varied pursuits in the creative arts, while reassembling every so often when the occasion arises to remind and reveal to audiences of how good they still are. Bob Bossin, Marie-Lynn Hammond, Ben Mink, Calvin Cairns and Dennis Nichol return to the stages of the Vancouver Folk Music Festival to sing about Newfoundlanders, Tugboats, Union Cowboys, the Canadian Horse and The Maple Leaf Dog. Not an exercise in nostalgia but a reminder of how good these veterans remain – Stringband returns.
