RURA

RURA
Scotland

Awarded “Live Act of the Year” at the 2015 Scots Trad Music Awards and nominated “Folk Band of the  Year in 2016”, RURA are considered one of Scotland’s most powerful contemporary folk-based bands. This is no small feat in a country where musicianship and tradition are held in very high regard, indeed.

The quartet’s fire first ignited in 2010 as award-winners at Glasgow’s world-renowned Celtic Connections festival. Since then, Steven Blake, Adam Brown, David Foley and Jack Smedley’s powerful, entrancing, yet never overbearing, instrumentals have
been a main stage highlight of many of the world’s leading folk festivals – including Cambridge, Tønder, Winnipeg and HebCelt, amongst countless others across 20+ countries.

The release of their second album, 2015’s “Despite the Dark” has been followed by extensive international touring. Their exquisitely rugged yet refined blend of fiddle, Highland pipes, flute, bodhran and guitar has won a devoted following in many corners of the globe, amongst audiences and critics alike.

And finally, this summer, it’s our turn to revel in the RURA experience!
