Raine Hamilton String Trio

Raine Hamilton String Trio (MB)

The Raine Hamilton String Trio deliver resonant, acoustic chamber folk with an otherworldly edge and a lyrical presence that cuts deep. Their vocals and strings are prism-clear, agile and powerful.

Hamilton’s latest album, 2018’s Night Sky, is anchored in relatable lived experience. Yet the album reaches into space just beyond, thinning the veil between here and there, affording safe passage to the rough and beautiful places.

Her ethereal voice and lyrics are at the forefront of these powerful and relatable tunes, written both in English and in French. Alongside cello and double bass, and with Hamilton on violin or guitar, these songs have a moving string quartet feel with a cosmic reach.

Hamilton is also a charming and funny storyteller, pairing her vulnerable songs with engaging story intros. She believes that music is for everyone and that we all have something to share. An experienced educator, she offers workshops in songwriting and fiddle songwriting, in both English and French. She also offers concerts with American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, to help make live music and the community that comes with it accessible to the deaf community.

Hamilton has toured Canada extensively, driving, flying, and floating her way from coast to coast. She has performed with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra three times, played a concert in a cave 10 stories below the earth, and been featured on stages across Canada including Vancouver Island MusicFest, Atlin Arts & Music Festival, Home County Folk Festival, Filberg Festival, Lilac Festival, Harvest Sun Music Fest, the Works, Harvest Moon Festival, and Trout Forest Music Festival.
