Professor Banjo & Estro Jennies

Shake out your crinoline and get ready to do-si-do!

Professor Banjo & Estro Jennies (BC)

Paul Silveria (AKA Professor Banjo) is a performer of, and tireless promoter for, participatory traditional music and dance. Originally from Portland Oregon and now living here in Vancouver, he has been bringing his shows, dances, and workshops to people around the Western US and Canada for more than 15 years.

As a banjo player, Paul explores a variety of intriguing Americana with a ready wit and engaging delivery. In addition to performances at festivals and concert series, Paul performs in schools from BC to Saskatchewan, and hosts a monthly, live-music, beginner-friendly square dance in Vancouver. With extensive experience playing for kids and adults, his shows are great for all ages. Paul also calls live-music square dances and is an expert at getting beginners up and dancing.

Paul will be joined by the Estro-Jennies, three very talented musicians who have logged many hours in many bands singing and playing. They are Lorraine Cobb (guitar), Shiho Mizumoto (fiddle), and Paula “Sparky” Spurr (upright bass).

We’re very pleased to announce that one of their workshops will be an interactive all ages square dance, which Paul will call.  So shake out your crinoline and get ready to do-si-do!
