Meredith Moon
Ontario

Mixing folk-punk energy with traditional Appalachian sounds, Meredith Moon plays the clawhammer banjo in a style all her own, topped by powerhouse vocals.
Known for expressive live performances, the Toronto-based multi-instrumentalist swaps between fingerstyle guitar, piano, and lap dulcimer with ease. She wrote her first song at the age eight, at 14 she taught herself guitar, and in her youth honed her craft busking in towns across the country.
“She conjures up songs awash in rich, moody melodies that catch the ear in a way… that many don’t get close to.” – Rambles
Meredith is on tour this summer with her new Compass Records release, From Here to The Sea, bringing her fresh tunes to ʔəy̓alməxʷ Jericho Beach Park. Produced and recorded in Ontario and Nashville by Colin Linden, her third album takes a detour from old-time roots of her early work, driving home the blues, folk-rock, even adding a touch of vintage jazz. Her banjo, as well as the roots music that shaped her sound, are still present, with her songwriting now leading the way. From Here to The Sea features artists Rebecca Lovell (Larkin Poe), Lillie Mae Rische and Dominic Davis (Jack White), Julian Taylor, George Receli (Bob Dylan), and Jerry Douglas, among others.
