Vancouver Folk Music Festival 2026
Maruja Limón
Spain

The intoxicating Barcelona band Maruja Limón take their audiences on a voyage through the musical geography of Catalan. The group makes music that travels from flamenco and rumba on a joyous journey that incorporates quinqui, mestizo, pop, and Cuban son. Maruja Limón “intertwines the soulful strains of traditional style with an audacious blend of rumba rhythms and a burst of punk zest…capturing the time- honoured spirit of flamenco and propelling this storied art form into an exhilarating, contemporary spotlight.”— Billboard.
Formed in 2014, the band writes and arranges their own songs and has played festivals around the world. This will be their first appearance in Vancouver. London Ontario’s Sunfest said Maruja Limón bring “their fierce, flamenco-charged energy to the stage — a powerful blend of rhythm, sisterhood, and Mediterranean fire you feel in your chest.” While the band has made several outstanding records, singer Esther González says the spirit of the band definitely shines best on stage: “There is an energy to live music that can’t be captured.”
We are delighted to have the fire of Maruja Limón light up the folk fest mainstage!
