Marin Patenaude (BC)
With favourably raucous and precious moments, Marin Patenaude deftly stitches together an urban edge with the waving grasses of country folk. Layered, living, and inspirited by wildness, her voice and spirit are strong. Raised in rural Horsefly, BC, Marin’s musical acumen is a family affair. She is the younger sister of Juno Award-winning Pharis Romero (of Pharis and Jason Romero) and was raised on harmony and sawdust in a family band that played folk and country. She is an accomplished vocalist and instrumental musician, comfortable in a variety of projects, and is a vocalist for the prog-rock-jazz group Pugs and Crows. Her latest record draws inspiration from Neil Young’s Crazy Horse and Tori Amos. It’s confessional folk-rock with potent lyricism, rich harmonies, and old-fashioned grit.
