Krystle Dos Santos | BC

While she may live in Vancouver, grew up in Edmonton, and has Guyanese roots, singer Krystle Dos Santos’ soul is planted deep in the rich terrain of jazz, soul, and the blues. Her warmth envelops you, and she applies her versatile, rich, and powerful voice to songs that pay tribute to her heroes and influences while exploring fresh new vistas of urban soul. She has an elegant, sensual, style – pulling inspiration from her idols Etta James, Nina Simone, Toni Braxton and Chaka Khan. Dos Santos’ performances are mesmerizing experiences; her songs tell of falling in love, heartbreak, and struggle.

This multi-talented diva also has an established acting career, having recently co-created and performed Hey Viola!, a cabaret-style musical about Canadian civil rights trailblazer Viola Desmond, the fearless woman featured on Canada’s $10 bill. Her other theatre credits include starring in the Vancouver productions of Dreamgirls, and The Chelsea Hotel: The Songs of Leonard Cohen.

“She commands the stage with her elegant statuesque form and her easy banter draws you in, making the whole experience naturally intimate. However, it’s when Dos Santos grasps the retro microphone she sings into and unfolds that tremendous earthy, sexy voice, you are captured” – Jazz on the Rocks.

Krystle is also appearing in American Beauties: Songs of the Grateful Dead Re-Imagined.
