Toronto singer-songwriter Julian Taylor crafts soulful, feel-good folk music with moody hints of the blues. 

Released last fall, Pathways is Julian’s third solo project–an introspective collection of songs richly imbued with rhythm and blues, drawing on his Caribbean and Mohawk heritage. Julian describes the themes of the songs as all about “righteousness, acceptance and enlightenment.” With his smooth, warm, and expressive voice, Julian’s musical repertoire is vast, capturing elements of country blues, rockabilly, and indie pop-rock.

Julian covered Joel Plaskett’s “Complete with Loneliness” for the tribute album Songs from the Gang, recorded in secret and released this spring to honour the east coast songwriter. His crossover soul-folk solo release in 2020, The Ridge, and follow up Beyond the Reservoir in 2022 cemented Julian’s place as a leading light in the Canadian roots-and-folk scene.

Julian was a founding member and frontman of the alt-rock band Staggered Crossing in the late ‘90s and leader of the Julian Taylor Band.
