Jeffrey Martin

United States

Former schoolteacher Jeffrey Martin always encouraged his students to follow their dreams and do the thing that most interested them. In 2015, he followed his own advice and has been a touring musician ever since.

Paste magazine called Martin’s last studio album, 2023’s Thank God We Left the Garden, “a stunner of a record, with songs that are stark in their simplicity, yet emotionally rich in a way that can catch your breath in your throat or leave your eyes suddenly damp.” Martin released Alive July 25, 2025 in 2026. Recorded in his home town of Portland, Oregon, the album is a snapshot of Martin’s fearless openness laid bare before a mesmerized crowd.

His songs are communiques from the heart, unveiling raw and poignant portraits of everyday angels and demons, explorations and ruminations on mortality and morality. A modern troubadour, Martin and his guitar at times evokes John Prine: simple songs and singable melodies underlaid with deeply compelling narratives. His gentle vocals build emotionally as he gives himself to the song, his untamed vulnerability chilling the listener. There’s no formula here, just a handful of chords and a truck full of heart delivered straight-up.

2026 marks Jeffrey Martin’s VFMF debut. If you value songs that will touch you and leave you lost in the moment, songs that ache with beautiful longing from an artist in his prime, don’t miss him. -LP
