Illteratty are a popular folk band from Vancouver who play original “metafolk” – meaning original swing, European cabaret, ambient, celtic, rockabilly, world, pop, and folk! Illiteratty’s six musicians produce a wide variety of songs with sharp, often original lyrics, and up to five-part vocals. The group’s instruments are just as varied, including guitar, mandolin, violin, keys/accordion, stand-up bass, and small percussion. Illiteratty’s sonic moods range from morose to madcap, sometimes simultaneously.
“illiteratty was stop-in-your-tracks amazing.” – Rowan Lipkovitz, Accordion Noir Festival Director
