She began her musical education as a classically-trained harpist at the young age of 8, but switched her focus to vocals later on. She worked with the Cairo Opera while attending music university, and has deep roots in Arabic traditional music.  As a freelance and in-demand Cairo studio back-up singer for different Arabian pop stars, her soulful voice graced hundreds of recordings. Then Fatma Zidan began recording her own material, gaining success in Egypt and Saudi Arabia with her music, and the rest is a story of increasing success. Today, this Saudi-born, Denmark-based Egyptian is known as one of the most gifted singers of Arabian music in the western world. Her’s is a blend of love and topical songs, an authentic and exquisite melding of sound that unites east and west, past and present.
