Many musicians can only dream of a career with longevity like Acadian singer-songwriter Danny Boudreau has achieved over the last 40 years. He was born in Pointe-Verte, New Brunswick with music in his blood. At the age of seven, Danny began performing live music with his father, sister, and brother. When he became a teenager, he began writing his own songs. “From then on, I knew that it was something I was interested in doing,” he says.

Danny’s decision to pursue music was cemented in 1990, when he won Le pouvoir de la chanson, a Campbellton-based songwriting contest. As a part of the prize, Danny received the chance to record his first single.

Those songwriting exploits have resulted in about a dozen releases over the last 20 years. Danny released his debut record, Sans Détour, in 1994 and his latest, Je suis à l’âme, in 2018. On his 2009 record, Mes légendes, he paid tribute to artists who have influenced his work, like Zachary Richard, and nodded at the next generation of Acadian singer-songwriters, such as Pascal Lejeune and Joseph Edgar. Danny has collected many awards, repeatedly reached the top of the Canadian francophone charts, and appeared on stages across Canada and the US and in Europe and Africa.

And just in case you’re wondering, Danny has no plans to hang up his guitar anytime soon. “Music has been a full-time thing for me since what seems like forever. My life revolves around music. I am so fortunate to have the chance to tour and play my music for people through Canada and Europe. Considering the state of the music business these days, it is all the more amazing that I have been able to have a career. I am definitely one of the fortunate ones.”
