Calling all guitar aficionados! We have someone for you.

Cian Nugent is a young guitar player and composer from Dublin who combines personal passions, such as a love of suburban/coastal blues, traditional music, late 60’s and 70’s singer-songwriters, jazz ambitions, 20th century composition, and the Takoma school into a deeply personal style and repertoire. “His music boasts an orchestrated and fully intrumented sound that is playful and eerie at the same time.”

He was first given a guitar by an uncle, an avant garde musician, and though he considered himself to be primarily a bass player, began, as he calls it, “noodling” with the instrument. One of the first songs he learned was Bob Dylan’s “North Country Girl” – a bit of a revelation to play. In addition to playing guitar, Cian is also a singer-songwriter.

Nugent is the type of guitarist who can dazzle with his attention to detail on the fretboard, but he is also content to ride out on one chord for several measures if the song calls for it. This is patient and beautifully played music at its best.
