It’s a rare artist who can claim a street named in his honour, but if you’re in his hometown of Dawson Creek, check out Roy Forbes Drive. It’s a mark of the love and respect that this remarkable singer-songwriter is accorded at home and far beyond. Returning to the VFMF stage to help us celebrate 40, Roy brings with him a great batch of original songs fifty years in the making. He also travels with an in-depth knowledge of jazz, blues, country and folk music.
Roy started up north in the sixties. As Bim, he had his brush with stardom before becoming one of Canada’s most respected and best loved singer-songwriters. With nine solo records and a couple more with UHF companions, Shari Ulrich and Bill Henderson, Roy can claim a career of making amazing music that’s enjoyed and acclaimed all over the world.
As a performer he is a master of the stage, establishing an electrical connection with audiences. His show on CKUA – Roy’s Record Room- celebrates his knowledge of the music of the past. Someday someone will be collecting him as one of the best this country has produced.
