Leif Vollebekk
Québec

Come immerse yourself in the ethereal sounds and poetic storytelling of Leif Vollebekk. From introspective ballads to foot-stomping anthems to music with an edge, his music weaves a tapestry of emotions.
Vollebekk is an Ottawa-born and Montreal adopted singer-songwriter. His breakthrough recording, Twin Solitude, earned him a prestigious Polaris Prize finalist spot and a JUNO nomination. The critically acclaimed record is now at over 22 million streams – testament to the chord his music has struck with folks.
He will release his new album Revelation on September 27. His new single, “Moondog”, is out now.
This multi-instrumentalist’s musical fire was lit in childhood by his grandfather. “My grandfather played music,” he said. “Whenever I saw him, he’d always be playing and when he died, I started playing all of his instruments. I learnt them one by one; I started with the violin, then the guitar, the piano and the harmonica.”
Vollebekk was initially only focused on musical composition, but when he heard Bob Dylan’s “Simple Twist of Fate” he saw the potent ability of song lyrics to paint precise portraits and illustrate stories. Neil Young and Lou Reed were also significant influences.
But he is very much following his own path as he takes his place among some of this country’s favourite musical bards. New Ways is evidence of his evolution as an artist – an album about engaging and changing.
All we know that this passionate, totally authentic and interesting artist will continue to engage and intrigue us as we eagerly anticipate what he will bring to us next. Stay tuned.
