Desirée Dawson is well known for her soulful folk sound, but she is a versatile artist. She can captivate a crowd with a stripped-down ukulele set just as easily as she can get them up and dancing with a full band or electronic dance track.
Dawson charges every song with honesty and emotion. She believes in music as a tool for collective healing. This passionate belief has carried her music around the world. It has brought her to renowned local stages at the Vogue Theatre, the Commodore Ballroom, the York Theatre, and Surrey Civic Theatre.
In 2016, Dawson won the CBC Searchlight competition with her single, “Hide.” The song was her first to gain 1,000,000 streams on Spotify. Her second single (and album title-track), “Wild Heart,” spent many weeks on the CBC Music Top 20, as did her most recent single, “Just Fine.” Producers around the globe have remixed her music and continue collaborating with her, helping her land on top of dance charts.
