VOLUNTEER FOR THE FESTIVAL!
The Vancouver Folk Music Festival takes place at Jericho Beach Park, one of Vancouver’s most beautiful parks, over a three day stretch, Friday July 13th, Saturday July 14th, and Sunday July 15th. Our volunteers are an essential component to what makes this festival a success and what makes the festival run smoothly year after year. The volunteer experience is like no other with a team of 1400 plus, music from around the globe with six daytime ‘workshop stages’ and three evening stages, great food, and more!
HOW DO I BECOME A VOLUNTEER?
Familiarize yourself in all things folky starting with the <Vancouver Folk Music Festival’s Volunteer Policy>. Then mosey on over to the online application and fill it out!
PROCEED TO VOLUNTEER APPLICATION
Whether you are a new or returning volunteer, anyone interested in being a part of the volunteer crew must fill out an application. Be sure to fill out every field!
WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
That depends! There are over 35 committees and depending on the one you’re placed on, you could be doing anything from husking a corn to promoting sustainability. Check out what each committee does to see which one interests you:
Volunteers will be placed according to their experience, availability, past involvement with the festival and the 3 preferences they chose on their application. Please keep in mind that some committees require specific skills and fill up quickly. In other words, the more flexible you are, the better!
Once accepted, specific information on what you will be doing for the upcoming festival will be provided by a committee leader who will contact you before the festival starts.
COMMITMENTS
The volunteer commitments vary depending on when and where you are assigned.
Pre / Post Festival Volunteers: 20 to 24 hours
During the Festival Volunteers: minimum 15 hours
Accepted volunteers will be contacted by the committee leader who will provide information on committee orientation meetings, as well as your schedule.
