Name: Roozbeh Mehrabadi
Committee: Street Team
Number of years volunteering: 3 plus back in the early 1990s
What memory stands out most when you think of your time at the Festival?
3 years ago, when “Lemon Bucket Orchestra” was performing at stage 3. After playing their concert and getting everybody up dancing, they marched while playing to the beach and took the audience and me with them, dancing all along.
Why do you volunteer for the Festival? What inspires you?
I volunteer for VFMF to meet the musicians and people involved in VFMF. I have volunteered with the instrument storage team which gave me many opportunities to meet and talk to musicians. As a member of the street promotion team, I can talk to people about Folk Festival, and share common interests in music.
What’s your favourite part of the Festival?
Listening to world music and dancing in open air.
What advice would you give to new volunteers?
Get to know other volunteers, chat about folk music and what you like about it. And most importantly, get on the field and dance to the live music.
