What memory stands out most when you think of your time at the Festival?
There are so many, it’s very difficult to pick one. I worked in Instrument Lockup for many years and one year a group from Jaipur, India came to the tent, started playing their instruments and led us all in a line behind them, parading around the grounds, while they played. It was so spontaneous and fun. Meeting Michael Franti by the duck pond inside the volunteer grounds and being able to have a chat with him. Working with other volunteers who have become good friends and sharing these special times together. It is a bond that we all feel.
Why do you volunteer for the Festival? What inspires you?
The most amazing magical venue; the beautiful spirit of the community and friends I’ve made through the festival, the incredible and interesting music, the delicious homemade meals we receive all weekend, the connection and the love that I feel when I am in complete joy, dancing and sharing the experience with the musicians and with the folkies.
What’s your favourite part of the Festival?
My favorite has always been Sunday morning Stage 2 – no cathedral beats it.
What advice would you give to new volunteers?
Be on time for your shift, or early if possible. Work hard but have fun. You are part of the best volunteer opportunity gig in town. You will love it!!
