What memory stands out most when you think of your time at the Festival?
I’ve been going to the festival for many years so there have been too many great memories to want to say any one was the best, but I think the common experience to all of them was that in the heart of one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities, there is such an overwhelming feeling of camaraderie, exceptional artistry and belief in a desire to make the world a better, more enriching place for all starting right here and right now.
Why do you volunteer for the Festival? What inspires you?
Sharing in the enthusiasm and positive, giving spirit of the other volunteers is a wonderful feeling which is a huge part of the festival spirit itself.
What’s your favourite part of the Festival?
I really enjoy seeing and hearing the world class global range and blending of musical and cultural styling that is really hard to find anywhere else. There always seem to be unexpected, wonderful surprises. The beautiful and scenic backdrop is a real bonus.
What advice would you give to new volunteers?
Relax, observe and listen to those who’ve been through it all before. Just do the best you can. Everyone is there to have a good time while making sure that the festival is a positive experience for everyone from the performers to the first time volunteers. We all rise together!
