The Vancouver Folk Music Festival agrees to the following understanding with volunteers:
- Volunteers will have access to the Festival site for the weekend, back stage, and kitchen without charge (except for breakfast and special beverages).
- Volunteers will have access to the volunteer and Festival parties on the Festival weekend, without charge, and may bring one guest at a cost of $15.
- Volunteers will have access, on a first-come first-serve basis with performers (and their gear) having priority, to Festival Shuttles from the Gage Towers at UBC to the Festival site during operating hours.
- Volunteers will receive Volunteer T-shirts. Volunteers will be asked to make a $15 contribution to the cost of these shirts.
- Volunteers will receive respectful treatment.
The Volunteer agrees to the following understanding with the Vancouver Folk Music Festival
- I will complete and submit a Volunteer Application Form.
- I will attend committee meetings.
- I will complete my Festival volunteer assignment in a satisfactory way (showing up on time for shifts, staying required duration, wearing volunteer T-shirt while on shift, respectful treatment of other volunteers, staff, performers, and patrons of the Festival.)
- I will abide by the policies of the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, including, but not limited to, zero tolerance for use of controlled drugs, harassment, and consumption of alcohol while on shift.
NOTE: A volunteer will ordinarily be a person 15 years old and older. Areas that handle alcohol require volunteers to be 19 or older.
Children of volunteers will not be permitted to accompany other persons back stage unless they have the appropriate badge. Badge requests for volunteers’ children must be received by the Volunteer Coordinator 1 week prior to the start of the Festival. Volunteers will NOT bring their children to their work shifts.
Volunteers do not incur any personal civil liability in relation to any act or omission done or made by the volunteer in good faith when Volunteering for Vancouver Folk Music Festival work. The Vancouver Folk Music Festival will maintain adequate insurance and will retain legal representation for any charges of criminal or civil liability. You are not covered if you are involved in a criminal act, intoxicated (any level of alcohol) at the time, fail to exercise due care and skill when doing the work.
