With glorious harmonies, insightful and whimsical lyrics, and an array of beautifully-played stringed instruments, Darlingside evokes the uncertainty of the times in which we live. The title track of their Extralife mellifluously sends out the dystopian message, “It’s over now/The flag has sunk/The world has flattened out”. And yet, as an NPR reviewer states, “Impending apocalypse shouldn’t sound this beautiful.” With Darlingside, well, it does.
Meeting in college, this talented quartet from Boston have been producing critically acclaimed music since 2010. And with the release of Extralife, they are reaching audiences across North America and Europe. VFMF audiences will find absolute delight in their “exquisitely-arranged, literary-minded, baroque folk-pop” – NPR
Darlingside plays Main Stage Friday July 13.
